License.

As your potential Wedding Officiant, I want to help you
get off to a good start by knowing how, when, and where to
apply for your Wedding License.

The Following is Required For a Marriage
License: |
- See below to apply together and apply in person - It is
always best to make an appointment.
- Present a government-issued picture
identification, such as a driver's license,
passport, or military ID.
- Provide full names, including the mother's
maiden name and state or country of birth for
parents.
- If previously married or in a State Registered
Domestic Partnership, provide the date of
dissolution, death, or termination.
- Both partners must be 18 years or older and be
present to apply.
- You do not have to be a California resident to
marry in California.
- There is no waiting period between receipt of a
marriage license and the ceremony.
- Minors, emancipated minors included, cannot be
licensed to marry in California without a parent's
written consent and a Superior Court Order.

Two Types of Marriage Licenses - Public and
Confidental |
There are two types of marriage licenses a couple may
apply for: Public and Confidential. Both types of
marriage licenses are valid for 90 days from the date
they are issued and may be used anywhere in the state of
California.
You must present the license to the person who is to
perform the marriage ceremony. After the ceremony is
performed, it is their responsibility to complete the
license and return it to the County Clerk for filing
within 10 days after the ceremony.
PUBLIC LICENSE
- Public
License valid for 90 days
- License can be used throughout the state of
California
- Minors, emancipated minors included, cannot be
licensed to marry in California without a
parent's written consent and a Superior Court
Order
- One witness is required, but you can have two Witness(es) must be at least 18 years of age.

CONFIDENTIAL LICENSE
- Not available for public inspection
- MUST BE used in the county where purchased only
- Only the married couple may obtain copies of the
marriage license
- Minimum age 18 years - minors may not purchase a
confidential marriage license
- No witnesses are required
